About the invention
The researcher, author and entrepreneur adopted a novel approach to tissue engineering. She created the specific environment that cells need to form different tissue types. The European Inventor Award is one of Europe's most prestigious innovation prizes. Launched by the European Patent Office (EPO) in 2006, it honours inventors, individuals or teams chosen by a jury whose pioneering work improves our lives, advances technology and creates jobs.
And every year, the public can vote for their favourite inventor: the Popular Prize goes to the shortlisted inventor with the most votes.
The winners in each category, and the winner of the Popular Prize, will be announced at the online Award ceremony on 17 June at 19:00 hrs (CEST).
